Good news: one of my short stories was long-listed in a contest. Thirty-five out of almost two thousand stories made the cut, and the winners will be announced sometime in March.
It’s nice to get some encouragement, and the $5K in prize money would be nice, too.
Oddly enough, my critique group pretty much hated this story. I took their comments on structure and editing, but I kept the bones. It just goes to show that sometimes you have to trust that someone out there will see what you see.
